Laying the Foundation for Total Health
Chiropractic care following an injury or illness is like building a brick wall - certain resources must be available and things must be done in a certain order for it to be resilient and function the way it was designed to. If you try to build it without bricks or mortar it just wouldn't come together and if you don't have the tools to make sure it stands straight it ends up weak and susceptible to collapse.
The same is true for your body. There are certain things that need to come together and go through a specific treatment plan in order for relief, stability, and wellness to happen. We generally break down care in our office into three phases:
Phase 1: Relief Care
If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first goal is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care 2-3 times per week for 4-8 weeks.
Phase 2: Rehabilitative Care
During the rehabilitation care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely preventing the condition that created the pain in the first place from recurring. It is typical to need care 4-8 times per month for 2-4 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.
Phase 3: Support or Wellness Care
This phase you have a choice of supportive or wellness care. Our doctors and staff are expert on the advantages and limitations of either type of care and will discuss with you which path you wish to travel.
- Supportive care helps the body maintain the changes demonstrated in the rehabilitation phase which is accomplished through periodic adjustments helping avoid future problems.
- Wellness care can be started at any stage of care but it primarily looks at optimizing the body's health through natural healing techniques which has Chiropractic at its core. This website discusses a few of the techniques used.
